This year I have decided to start doing product reviews videos of the tackle, products and baits i’m using on the CarpQuest.

Early indoor test filming highlighted that the video footage resulted in yellow tint/hue, likely from the overhead lights and bulbs – even with the camcorder exposure and correction set for “indoor” and “fluorescent” lighting.

Rather than have mess around with post-editing to correct the color palette I decided it was time to upgrade and acquire come studio lights to provide the correct balanced illumination.

The setup I purchased is Linco 2000 Watt Photo Studio Lighting Kit. It comes with 3 x Light Boxes and a chroma screen backdrop with frame. Not only should this give a realistic color rendering but it also lets me deploy green-screen backdrop effects !

I cannot wait to get filming with these!

Here are a few shots of me setting it all up, a great kit, but sadly came with 0 instructions!

Our cat, Orion, wanted to be involved with the installation !

Each of the 3 lights comes on an adjustable triopod and adjustable 4-socket light mount. Took quite a while to get all the mounts attached and bulbs installed to test them to ensure none had broken in shipping.

Once the bulbs were installed I had to install the light boxes – of course, I needed to remove the bulbs I had installed previously!

With the light boxes installed, the boxes really blasted out the light ! To prevent shadows I installed the diffusers on each one.

Took me a couple of hours to get it all put together. You cannot see the actual backdrop frame & chroma screen.

The one consistent theme there has always been with CarpQuest is:

If you’re going to do something, do it totally overboard !
