I had blanked my previous session at Kingfisher. I was eager to return in hopes of finally catching my first mirror carp of the season. So the next day we were back for a short, very windy, afternoon!
With only a few hours to fish Ron and I got our lines out quickly. I had barely gotten my last line in the water, found my coffee cup, when Ron had the first run resulting in a nice 13 lb 8 oz common.
No sooner had we gotten that fish back in the water and finished the blog entry, another run for Ron on his pineapple boilies, glugged in a strong pineapple concentrate. This resulted in a 8 lb 8oz common to add to his tally!
The wind continued to gust and finally we had some time to relax. Our peace was broken by a nice run on my alarms. A quick battle and I had a 14 lb, 30.5″ mirror carp in the net and on the cradle – YES ! mission accomplished. The mirror fell to a 15mm CC Moore Live System boilie topped with a cut down 14mm HellRaiser Acid Pear pop-up.
I quickly got the rod cast back out. Within 15 minutes I had my second run of the day and a fine 10 lb 10 oz common was landed. This time the fish fell to a 24mm Live System boilie topped again with a HellRaiser Acid pear pop-up.
The next couple of hours were uneventful and our time came to an end. For a really short session we had banked 4 carp between us, 2 each – all told, a great day !
