CarpQuest – S2E18 – Chatfield Carp Fishing – Bald Eagle, Mirror Carp and Duck invasion!
A cold and windswept day at the reservoir. It was getting very late in the carping season and few opportunities remained to get lines in the water before winter’s cold took a grip and the waters iced over.
The highlight of the session was when a bald eagle landed in the tree next to us. It was amazing to see this magnificent bird up close and personal ! The bird remained perched on the tree for a short while, watching us, before taking flight across the reservoir.
For most of the day, this felt like a DuckQuest, rather CarpQuest. Our swim was invaded by ducks, a never ending army of them, diving on our baits throughout the day.
Ron caught the only carp of the day, a 10 lb 8 oz mirror, right as we were about to pack the gear up.
This was his first ever mirror carp capture so he was a very happy man!
Tight-Lines,
