CarpQuest – S1E5 – Quail Lake Carp Fishing
A great sunny day session was had at Quail lake with a couple of friend, Chris and Patrick. Two of us were fishing for carp and our colleague, Patrick for trout. We fished from around 8am to 4pm. For carp we were using big-bobs corn on the hair with panko packbait, our trout fisherman was using either green nightcrawlers, sweet corn or marsh mellow style cheese flavored baits.
I banked our only carp of the day around 9:30am, a great little 6.5 lb’er. The rest of the day we managed a few trout before we headed home. All told a good day out though sadly we only banked the 1 carp. When we return to Quail again we will likely try a different spot now the weather is starting to get warmer.
I am sure that Quail must hold some monsters somewhere beneath the deep dark depths. Given I had a 15 lb’er out previously, a 20 lb’er is certainly possible from this destination. Reports would indicate this from local fishing forums.
My thanks to C-Dog/Chris for his handy use of the net and to Patrick for his camera work for our “live” action shots.
Tight-Lines,
John
