CarpQuest – S1E3- Quail Lake Carp Fishing – My first Winter Carp
I returned to Quail on Friday for a morning and early afternoon session. I was determined to try and bank my first ever winter carp. Having blanked a couple of sessions previously the odds weren’t looking good.
This was my second session on Quail this year. I had changed spots from the far side of the bank, to avoid the mud. The weather was forecasted to peak around 70F so I had high hopes for a good days fishing. I got my lines out early, with sweet corn on the hook, a simple panko packbait and sat back and waited.
Around 9:30am I landed my 1st ever Winter Carp (4 min into video), a pretty little 11lb common. A milestone capture for me personally, I was indeed a very happy man, a cup of Victory Coffee was soon to follow. It must have been a slow days fishing for others as I had a few people stop by to see this fine capture. Once the onlookers had departed I got the line back out there and hoped to see another winter beauty!
Rest of the day was plagued by yet more trout but all in all, a great day out and the first carp of the year on the bank !
Tight-Lines,
John
