CarpQuest – S1E24 – Pueblo Reservoir Fishing – 8 Carp Session
A year ago I had visited Pueblo Reservoir for a quick afternoon session. Though I banked no fish, I had the one run which snapped me off. Good signs!
On a toasty hot late summer morning I headed back to the venue. A second attempt at getting a carp from thus huge body of water. The temperature was pushing the mid-90s, it was bright and sunny, with only a little wind. But a few clouds dotted the sky.
I setup down from the swim beach, by a small bay – it looked very carpy!
I fished both rods, with a panko/oats packbait and big-bob’s corn on the hair.
My swim choice was a good one, as the day was a solid, carp fest, with fish coming steady.
Towards the end of the session my usual packbait ran out so I switched over to a plain panko packbait flavored the pineapple – the bigger carp must have loved it, as the best two fish of the day came to that flavor, common’s at 15’14 and 15’4 lb’s respectively.
Perhaps one of my best #’s of carp landed in a single session. I finished up with 8 common carp landed, between 6 lbs and almost 16 lbs. I do wonder if there are any mirror carp lurking in those deep depths!
What a great session !
I will be planning a few more trips to this venue in the future for sure, I am convinced there are some real big pigs waiting out there to be captured!
Tight-Lines,
John
