CarpQuest – S1E22 – Pikeview Reservoir Carp Fishing – High Teens in the Rain
On a very wet and rain soaked morning myself and James got in a quick session down at Pikeview Reservoir. I setup the sportbrella, on the slippery slope, which provided only a little protection from the downpour – none at all, once the wind changed direction.
We both fished a couple of rods each, mine with a panko packbait and sweetcorn on the hair, James, with his packbait, and also sweetcorn on the hair.
With all the rain the steep bankside soon turned into a pool of mud and everything was soaked. I had to abandon the video filming early on, after the first nice 19 lb common carp capture, rather than risk the camcorder in rain!
It actually turned out to be a good session, regardless of the soaking we took.
The carp did not seem bothered by the rain and I suspect it actually helped in the long run, oxygenating the water and cooling things down after the weeks of insane heat we had recently in Colorado.
By noon, totally wet to the bone, we packed up.
I ended the session with 3 nice common carp, all in the high teens. James banked a couple of commons, including a real nice 14 lb 7 oz beauty that got him his much desired, Colorado Master Angler Award. Congrats James!
Tight-Lines,
John
