CarpQuest – S1E15 – Chatfield Carp Fishing – Chris 7 carp
A Friday all day session up at my favorite Colorado fishing destination, Chatfield Reservoir. Since catching the monster carp, “CarpZilla” I had become obsessed with catching some more big pigs!
My friend Chris had the day off work so we travelled up to Chatfield together and got setup on the bank. It was a warm and sunny day, with some light wind. We were both fishing two rods, myself with a panko/oats packbait and big-bobs corn on the hair. Chris was using a panko packbait and sweetcorn on the hair.
For those who wondered if my fishing companions ever catch fish, well, Chris had a bumper session banking his first 7 carp haul in a single day – including a beautiful fully scaled 10 lb mirror – well done!
I did manage to at least avoid the blank, landing a nice 8 lb 14 oz common.
This session taught me a valuable lesson. Throughout the day it was clear the fish just weren’t infront of me. I could see fish showing where Chris was, and beyond him. I should have moved. Yet, given this was the spot I had banked CarpZilla from, I was hesitant to change locations. I should have. Lesson learned !
Tight-Lines,
John
