CarpQuest – S1E12 – Chatfield Carp Fishing – Carnage – Part 4
The last day of my vacation and I decided to make one final afternoon trip up to Chatfield Reservoir before returning to work.
The afternoon was peaceful, some light wind and a warm hot sun with temperatures hitting the low 80s.
Again I fished with both rods, the tried and tested panko/oats packbait and big-bob’s corn. This combination had proved highly successful the previous days and I saw no reason to change it.
I did not get the instant action as I had the previous trips. It took a while to get the first carp on. The afternoon drifted by and the fish graced my net in a slow but steady rate.
Though this did not end up as the huge carp hauling of the previous days it was still a good afternoon with a few nice fish. Chatfield was telling me that not every trip here would be a monster fest and that patience and time would be required to unveil her secrets.
On the downside, I did break the wide-angle lens on my camera when it face-planted in the wind into the gravel.
In total 4 common carp were banked, with the a best of 13.5 lb’s.
Tight-Lines,
John
