CarpQuest – S1E11 – Chatfield Carp Fishing – Carnage – Part 3
It was half way through my week off work. The “lure” of Chatfield was just too much and returned again on Wednesday with my wife and dog (Ripley) for a last minute picnic and fishing trip.
It was another calm day with intermittent sun and cloud. The temperatures were in the low to mid 70s – perfect picnic weather, and of course, fishing. I picked the same swim that my PB was caught on earlier in the week – who knows, perhaps an even bigger monster lurked out there in the depths of Chatfield!
I fished with both rods, panko/oats packbait and big-bob’s corn on the hair. This bait had proved highly effective on the last few sessions and my confidence in getting carp on the bank was high.
I had barely gotten the lines out there when the carp action was ON again. Throughout the afternoon the fish came steady, no huge monsters, but I did get my first mirror here in the USA.
By late afternoon the clouds gathered and there was light rain. It was time to pack up and head home.
In total 7 common carp were banked and the 1 mirror.
All told, another great afternoons fishing, time spent with my wife and my dog Raven.
Tight-Lines,
John
