CarpQuest – S1E1 – Willow Springs Ponds Carp Fishing

This was also the first time I was to get out the camcorder and try fishing, filming and blogging. My first fishing session down at Willow Springs Ponds, Fountain, CO. I had scouted the destination a few days before, it seemed very “carpy” !

It was a surprisingly nice day, the sun was out, and temps were up into the low 60’s. The water was murky and green, visibility was low. I did not see see any carp either from the shoreline, after walking around the whole lake, or out on the water, no bubbling, trails, tailing or fins.

In the end I only managed to catch a few small trout, which was something, given I didn’t see many others catching anything. The trout were all returned to be caught another day and I will return to Willow Springs Ponds again for another session.

For my first full video-log of a fishing session, I was getting used to the camera and commentary – though I fear I sound like I am commentating on a Cricket Match – probably just about as exciting! It was going to take a while to get over those first initial nerves filming and talking into the camera.
