CarpQuest New Episode Released – Season 4, Ep 12

CarpQuest October 4, 2016

For Carpquest, this was the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. A great carp fishing session at the Fairgrounds resulted in a trio of twenty pound common carp and some good mid to upper teens !

BTFM: Carp Fishing – Inside the Session 5

During our previous session at the Fairgrounds we had seen many fish jumping and showing across the lake on the opposite bank during the spawn. We were curious if the carp would hold out in that same spot once the spawn was over. The only way to know would be give it a try.

One great aspect of catch and release fishing is that you have the chance to catch the same fish again. I was fortunate to catch again a carp I have named “black-spot”, a great female common. She had put on a good 1/2 pound in weight in but a few weeks and now tipped the scales at 19 lbs. Perhaps next year she will be 20 lbs ?

All told, it was a great session, the new spot rewarded us with some great captures.

20 lb carp for John
20 lb 14 oz common carp

It is so easy to get caught in a rut and to not want to risk experimenting, be that with new baits, new rigs, or even a new spot. So, next time you are planning a trip perhaps try something new. The rewards can be amazing !

Tight-Lines,
John
