CarpQuest – S2E12 – Chatfield Carp Fishing – Carp and Catfish
In this episode of CarpQuest we get in a quick session at Chatfield Reservoir, with James, before the madness descends for the Labor Day weekend.
Thunderstorms were due in the area by 2pm so we got the lines out quickly. I was rewarded after 15 mins by a nice 10 lb 2 oz common that fell to the panko/oats pack and sweetcorn. James also had a good run but sadly that one came off.
With the incoming front I had hoped the carp bite would turn on. I did get a couple more bites but these turned out to be channel cats, nice fish, both between 16-20″ or so – actually the first cats i’ve caught at Chatfield.
A band of rain passed over us quickly yet the main storm front was still heading right for us. Once we saw the flashes of lightning, and heard the booming thunder, it was time to pack it in for the day.
A productive quick session at one of my favorite venues!
Tight-Lines,
John
